I’ve been waiting for the Xbox SmartGlass app to release since hearing about it during E3 and once I joined the beta test for new Xbox Dashboard update in August, I started salivating at the possibilities SmartGlass could provide. Occasionally, I would check the Google App Store for SmartGlass even though I knew it hadn’t been released, so imagine my surprise when my wife popped in Dance Central 3 and it reminded us that we could interact with the game via SmartGlass. I don’t think I’ve ever downloaded an app quicker, all the while hearing my wife call me a “nerd” repeatedly. At this current phase SmartGlass and its application are still in its infancy, but the potential is there. During last weeks Video Game Awards, I was able to use SmartGlass to vote on the different scenarios that would be aired next. So far SmartGlass isn’t a game changer, but like I said the potential is there. Just imagine playing Skyrim or Far Cry 3 and being able plot out your next destination without pausing or even managing your inventory while at work. I haven’t gotten a chance to play around with SmartGlass when it comes to Microsoft Music or Microsoft Video, but this weekend I go ahead and rent The Dark Knight Rises to see what exclusives SmartGlass will offer. Overall, SmartGlass is off to a promising start and goes to show how the Xbox is ever evolving into a full blown entertainment system.
This is not a paid endorsement…but it can be!
