NCAA ends relationship with EA Sports!

NCAA College Football is DEAD!

"By now, most fans will have heard that EA's licensing agreement with the NCAA is set to expire and that we have agreed to part ways. I'm sure gamers are wondering what this means...

But that doesn't mean that EA Sports will no longer produce college football games!

This is simple: EA Sports will continue to develop and publish college football games, but we will no longer include the NCAA names and marks. Our relationship with the Collegiate Licensing Company is strong and we are already working on a new game for next generation consoles which will launch next year and feature the college teams, leagues and all the innovation fans expect from EA Sports...

It was announced today that NCAA will no longer allow EA to use their likeness and logo for any video games.  This includes 2K, Tecmo, Sony, Microsoft or any other publisher for the foreseeable future.
What many gamers are unaware of is that each university, conference, division, and bowl game individually license their property to EA!  This means that EA, through Collegiate Licensing Company, will still be able to bring college football to the market.

We took big creative strides with this year's college game and you’ll see much more in the future. We love college football and look forward to making more games for our fans."

Now if I can just stop hearing people complain about exclusivity with sports game I would be one happy gamer!

Nightmare on 360 Street

So I woke up this morning, thinking I would get a quick game of NCAA Football in before work, but to my dismay when I pressed the X guide button I got no power from the 360!  I’ve had this happen before but it usually just meant that the power cord has come loose and a quick jiggle would give me power.  But today was different, not only did I jiggle the cord, but I unplugged everything numerous times with no power.  Normally, I wouldn’t trip on this but for anyone who drives or has driven a hooptie knows that any small problem can turn into a big problem quickly. Given Microsoft’s history with hoopties, I was afraid I was experiencing a new issue with my Xbox.  By now everyone is aware of the “Red Ring of Death;” which I’ve had 4 different times, but I’ve also had my disk drive stick, and the laser head died off completely.

Now fortunately, I was able to get power back to my Xbox and I haven’t had any issues since, but the thought of being a Wii-only player for an extended amount of time scared the shit out of me.
And for me that is no bueno.

Suckidy Suck Suck

I.Sucked
I guess its confession time again!  Every year, I run out and buy the newest edition of NCAA Football and NFL Madden without fail and every year I wind up playing for 3 months and shelving the game (NCAA gets a little more run because of Online Dynasty).  It’s like getting back with an ex knowing good and damn well that they are still only good for one thing!  Every year, I say to myself “I’m done with Madden, unless they fix…” but see I’m already setting myself up…leaving the door wide open for the mookie-fluke.  I know this because this is the same thing I said about NBA Live year after year.  After the wackness that was Live ’04, I knew there was no way I would spend my money on Live again…
I.Sucked.Less
but then came NBA Live ’05 and I was right back in line (to my defense it was given high marks by other gaming critics) and within a matter of weeks I was right back to being disappointed.  Luckily, ’05 was the last time I bought Live and couldn’t be happier.  Now here we are just one month away from NCAA 13 dropping (July 10th) I’m starting to get that itch; as in I’ve already pre-ordered the game and took off a half day from work.  I’m sure you’re thinking that clearly I need some kind of intervention (which is true) but honestly I do play the HELL out of NCAA because of Online Dynasty and this year I’ve got some big plans for our OD to keep things fresh and I plan on sharing them here regularly.  And after hearing about Connected Careers for Madden NFL 13, I’m willing to give it one last shot.  Well, that’s until Madden NFL 14 comes knocking on my door, telling me how much things have changed.

Help. Me

Please don't suck
Please don't suck more
